Why are you here at the River?

Nothing can really explain it better than to start with the verse from Matthew 7:7-8, “Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.”

Being a Christian all my life I never understood those verses until about 3 years ago when I started living out those verses by getting into my Bible and reading who and what God really is to me. I talked to God like I would talk to anyone else, asked him for direction, was quiet (which was tough) so I could hear his plans for me, and then begged for the strength to obey where he was leading me.  And where exactly was that?  To the understanding that this is a promise that we can live in, even though it may not look the way we want it to.  Even better than that, is the knowledge of the strength that is already in us to obey.  So in that act of obedience to the life God has planned for me and for His Kingdom, I am here at the River, truly blessed and living a life that is fuller and richer than I have ever known before!

What drives you?

That’s easy! It is the knowledge that if we can teach people to get into their Bible and into a real relationship with Jesus Christ that lives can be changed and I believe this happens best in a small life group setting.  Jesus does his best work through broken people because then His light gets to shine through those cracks of brokenness!  That is what drives me.
